This year is a big one for the football world. As well as all the usual domestic action, there will be not one but two major tournaments in 2022.

SoccerKidz provide high-quality childen’s football training courses in London and Hertfordshire. Here we put the spotlight on this summer’s Women’s Euros and the men’s World Cup later in the year, along with the full range of sessions we will be offering in 2022.

Women’s Euros 2022 – July 6-31

The great news for English football fans is that the tournament is being held in this country, and that the England team has qualified. This tournament is positive proof that football is not just for boys and men, but girls and women too. Don’t forget that all our SoccerKidz courses are for both sexes, not just for boys.

The format of the tournament consists four groups of four, with the top two in each group qualifying for the quarter-finals. From then on, it’s a straight knockout until the final, which will be held at Wembley on July 31.

As far as venues for the tournament, along with Wembley, games will be played at football league grounds around the country, including Brentford’s stadium in London, and Old Trafford in Manchester – where the opening game England v Austria will take place. The only non-football league stadium hosting games will be Leigh Sports Village.

The Men’s World Cup – November 21 to December 18

This year’s World Cup won’t take place during the English summer break as usual. Instead, it will be in the relative cool of the Qatari autumn and winter.

32 teams will be competing in eight groups of four at the tournament. England have qualified already. Scotland and Wales are both in the play-offs, which were due to be completed in March. However the situation has been complicated by the situation in the Ukraine. Both Russia and the Ukraine were both involved in the play-offs; the former have been suspended from international competition, while the latter’s match with Scotland has been postponed.

Anyway, the final draw is due to take place next month (April), which will decide the groups and venues for the matches. In total, eight new stadia have been built across Qatar for the tournament. The group stage will be between November 21-Dec 2, with two teams qualifying from each group. After that, it will be a straight knockout, from the round of 16, to the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.

The domestic football calendar in this country has been brought forward by a week, and the Premier League will be suspended while the tournament is in progress (it will begin again here on Boxing Day).

Tickets aren’t on sale yet, partly due to the uncertainty of who is playing who, but in any case, there should be comprehensive coverage on free-to-air TV channels.

SoccerKidz Courses

Just as important as the main tournaments, SoccerKidz will be running a series of courses throughout the year.

We also have after-school clubs, which consists of one hour of quality tuition in football or other sports. These are being run at St Mary’s Priory (football) and Earlsmead (multi-sports). Children’s Football Training Courses in London with SoccerKidz

The common denominator with all of these courses is that children, whatever age (we cater for ages 3.5 to 14) or sex they are, have fun and enjoy themselves. We aim to provide all participants in SoccerKidz courses with a thorough grounding in the skills of the game, and encourage everyone to learn through play, solving problems as they go, and offering only constructive criticism.

All our staff are FA or UEFA qualified, fully insured, DBS checked, and trained in child protection and Emergency First Aid.
